Star Legal's Portishead Branch is seeking applications for the following jobs:

Residential Property Lawyer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified, experienced residential property lawyer to join our expanding Portishead office on a full-time basis.

Ideally, you will have recent experience working in another South West based law firm and good relationships with local estate agents, but this is not as important as strong technical skills, excellent client care and a collaborative, team-based approach to working.

You will need to have at least 3 to 5 years PQE in residential property and an efficient and well organised approach to managing client work.  You will have a professional, friendly and reassuring approach to dealing with clients, as well as the ability to work to tight deadlines and to prioritise work.

You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with local estate agents (existing connections would be an advantage, but is less important than the ability to develop and nurture relationships with estate agents).

Strong IT skills using Microsoft Office are essential and prior experience of using case management systems would be advantageous.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, pension scheme and excellent working conditions.

Our Portishead office is centrally located and has free on-site parking for staff (including evenings and weekends).

Please send your current CV and covering letter to huw.jones@star-legal.co.uk. If you would like an informal initial discussion about the role (in complete confidence), please contact Huw via email or on 0117 905 9262.

Residential Property Secretary / Assistant

We are looking for an experienced conveyancing secretary/assistant to join our expanding Portishead office on a full-time basis.

Ideally, you will have experience of working in the residential property department of a local law firm, but prior experience of the Portishead market is less important than your expertise in assisting with residential property work and your excellent secretarial and organisational skills.

You will need strong word-processing and audio-typing skills and must have experience of using Microsoft Office.  Prior experience of using case management systems would be advantageous, but is not essential.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, both in person and on the telephone, and will have a friendly, reassuring approach to dealing with clients.

You will be adaptable and able to work calmly under pressure, in what can be a fast-paced environment.

We are always interested to hear from solicitors and other lawyers who would like to talk to us about joining Star Legal. If you have experience as a lawyer and have contacts or clients of your own or a reasonable expectation of growing your clients and contacts, please contact Ian Foster or Philip Hands. All discussions and enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence.
