About Hussain

Experience

Hussain joined Star Legal in April 2025 as a consultant solicitor advocate and is based at the Clifton office. He deals with criminal defence and extradition matters and has higher rights of audience in the criminal courts.

Hussain has experience in matters ranging from homicide and serious violence, to driving offences, and financial crime. He is particularly knowledgeable in cases involving drug importation and production, including investigations involving HM Border Force and the National Crime Agency, and has successfully challenged forensic evidence of prosecution drug experts.

Whilst maintaining his wider practice, Hussain has developed a specialism in cases arising from protests and unlicensed music events. He is regularly instructed in cases of this nature and has successfully defended those accused of offences including riot and public nuisance.

Hussain also represents those facing international criminal investigations and proceedings, and has successfully challenged extradition requests in the Magistrates’ and High Courts, including on the grounds that extradition would not be compatible with the European Convention on Human Rights.

Background

Hussain graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MA Politics before studying MA Law at University of Bristol. He qualified as a solicitor in 2020 and practised in London prior to joining Star Legal.

Outside of practice, Hussain has worked in a number of voluntary roles at charities and trade unions.
